Reflecting on the shifting tides of interior design, Scott recalls the massive popularity of patterns that once dominated social media and retail shelves. The chevron rug craze of the past, he notes, was "wild," while Morris & Co.-style florals have become so ubiquitous that he advises consumers could all "relax with a bit." Similarly, while Scott still considers checkerboard to be a classic pattern in most settings, he argues that the high-contrast versions dominating the market today have become "a bit overdone."

In search of a fresh yet grounded motif, the design professional has turned his attention to animal prints. Rather than fading into a passing fad, Scott believes these patterns occupy a unique space in interior styling.

"Animal print is one of those unique elements that is both trendy and timeless," Scott says. "There will be periods when it is ultra-trendy and times when it’s not, but it will always have a place in design."

The inspiration for his latest collaboration struck when Scott spotted similar high-end animal print applications in exclusive, upscale projects. When he went looking for brands producing comparable pillows and rugs at accessible price points, he came up completely empty-handed. Recognizing a gap in the market, Scott approached his partnership with Joon Loloi as an opportunity to bring his own abstract interpretations of animal prints to a wider audience.

The resulting collection spans a curated selection of colors, patterns, and durable fibers, blending jungle-inspired aesthetics with practical home living. Among the standout pieces is the printed Rana rug, which loosely resembles a zebra pattern with its cream and espresso striations. For those seeking a tiger print format that prioritizes modern convenience, the bronze and black Clarke rug offers a washable solution. Meanwhile, the Tahlia rug introduces a creative plum spin to traditional leopard spots, giving a classic motif an unexpected, modern twist.

For homeowners hesitant to make a dramatic leap into bold textiles, Scott’s fall collection provides an approachable entry point. The color palettes across the four major rug options are kept intentionally subtle, allowing the patterns to read almost like traditional geometric designs from a distance. Furthermore, Scott points out that the floor serves as the ideal canvas for experimenting with bold prints, given that rugs are naturally broken up and partially covered by furniture.

"Even though rugs are so big and prominent, having an animal-print version feels so much less in-your-face than a bedspread or couch," Scott explains.

When it came time to style the new pieces inside his own historic 1929 Los Angeles home, Scott was pleasantly surprised by the results. He admits he initially wondered how the graphic floor coverings would mesh with his existing architectural details, such as traditional wood paneling and vintage fireplace tile. Instead of clashing, both the hand-tufted wool Rama rug and the washable Clarke rug integrated seamlessly, injecting the historic space with a vital layer of modern contrast.

"I had always thought my living room felt a bit stuffy, and this graphic pattern was exactly the breath of fresh air it needed," he reveals.
